China Telecom Set Up Ambitious Targets
China Telecom's ambitious goals for network development, especially for the Internet has been set and will benefit its users: to promote the transmission speed eight times over current level and to expand the export bandwidth to 3G.
For backbone network, the behemoth will enhance the security and reliability of the network by establishing circle net based on the formal gridiron network. Advanced technology will be introduced to build up a high-capacity and speedy public network of high quality and reliability, in a hope to satisfy demands of various users.
The construction of entry network will also be sped up to shorten the distance between optical conjecture and individual user to 3-500 meters within one or two years. To stretch its optical fiber to towns or especially villages in rural areas will be emphasized. The business subscriber of the behemoth can enjoy entry bandwidth capacity of 10M-100M and 1.5M for individual common user.
Meantime, the company will optimize the Internet and upgrade its rate in a hope to earn a brand name. By 2005, the company predicted its Internet users will amount to 80 million, among which 20% can enjoy broadband Internet.
