Yunnan Signs 2-billion-yuan Contracts at Hi-tech Fair

Southwest China's Yunnan Province Friday signed contracts worth 2 billion yuan (241 million US dollars) at the ongoing Second China Hi-Tech Fair.

The province sealed contracts on 20 projects with universities and conglomerates, which include eight in electronics, five in biological and medical fields, seven in metallurgy, chemical industry and machinery.

Notable are the construction of a 1.5-billion-yuan (181 million US dollars) wide-band cable television system, a 66-million-yuan (7.95 million US dollars) pharmaceutical project, and a 10-million-yuan (1.2 million US dollars) rudimentary education information management network.

Yunnan is well-known for its rich natural resources, which include plants, animals, and non-ferrous metals. The provincial delegation brought to the fair a group of high-level and profitable projects and drew wide attention among both foreign and domestic companies.
