Int'l Computer Expo Opens in South China CityAn international computer products exposition, 3C Expo 2000 -- Computer, Communications and Consumer Electronic Products, opened in Dongguan in Guangdong Province Friday.Several hundred computer-related enterprises from over 40 countries and regions all over the world took part in the five-day exposition. Computers and related equipment, digital products and technology, software, communication and networks, and other high-tech products will be on display at the expo. Special rooms are arranged for demonstration of e-business and multi-media technology. The expo is jointly organized by Sinotechmart, China Software Industry Association, Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Taiwan Businessmen Association Dongguan. Taiwan-based NOVA International Holding Ltd. was invited to help organize the fair to make it the world's fourth largest computer expo. The other three largest expositions in the world so far are Comdex in the United States, Cebit in Germany and Computex in Taiwan. International experts and tycoons in computer science field will make speeches on hot computer topics at six seminars during the expo. Dongguan, a neighboring city of Shenzhen and Hong Kong has now become the world's largest production base for computer accessories. There are nearly 3,000 enterprises here involved in processing computer products. The export volume of such products reached 6.68 billion U.S. dollars last year.
