CHTF Fruitful on the First Day

The second China Hi-tech Fair (CHTF) opened on October 12 in Shenzhen. Through a series of negotiations, the agreements for eighteen projects were signed on the first day, involving a total amount of RMB 5.67 billion (US$ 683 million).

The 18 hi-tech projects involve the fields of high frequency digital wireless phone, cell for cellular phone, broad band TV and broadcast network equipment, cyber sci-tech park and cellular material.

Shenzhen Municipal Government, Beijing University, Hong Kong Technology University and Shenzhen Hong Kong Institute (Industry-Education-Research) have signed agreements for some cooperation projects on October 12.

According to related sources, the agreements for several other projects will also be signed during the fair. Both the number of agreements and the amount involved are expected to exceed those of last year, thus making the week-long fair become a "golden week" for China's hi-tech industry.
