Canadian Embassy Celebrates 30th Anniversary of Sino-Canadian Ties

The Canadian Embassy in China held a cocktail party Friday to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Canada and China.

Howard Robert Balloch, Canadian ambassador to China, said on the occasion that bilateral relations have been growing in various areas over the past three decades.

He expressed the hope that the friendly cooperation will further expand in the new century.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said that the Chinese government and people attach great importance to developing relations with Canada.

"We expect to work together to push forward the Sino-Canadian comprehensive cooperative partnership in the new century," he said.

State Councilor Wu Yi, Minister of Construction Yu Zhengsheng and other senior officials were present at the party.
