China Initiates Culture Research Center

The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) on Friday opened a research center to study the prospects of China's cultural industry after the country's entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Speaking at the center's opening ceremony, CASS President Li Tieying said that lots of theoretical and practical cultural issues should be solved in China when the new century is approaching.

Jiang Lansheng, vice president of the CASS, said that her academy would bring together the most outstanding experts to carry out the comprehensive research.

Meanwhile, the center launched its own website, www.culture.ac.cn, to provide a database for scholars worldwide.

In the near future, the experts will focus on cultural conflict in globalization, foreign mass media, mutual influence between cultures, and cultural philosophy.
