Vietnamese Youth Delegation Leaves Hanoi for China

An eighty-member Vietnamese youth delegation led by First Secretary of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Vietnam Vu Trong Kim Friday left Hanoi for Beijing to participate in a Sino-Vietnam youth friendship meeting from October 15-24.

The friendship meeting between Chinese and Vietnamese youth is part of the 2000-2001 cooperation program between the Communist Youth League of China and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Vietnam.

The program, which is in response to the common awareness reached by General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee Jiang Zemin and General Secretary of the Vietnamese Communist Party Central Committee Le Kha Phieu on February, 1999, aims at consolidating and further strengthening the friendship and cooperation between youths of the two countries and the two nations' traditional friendship.

The youth delegates of the two countries to the meeting will exchange experiences relating to their study, participation in economic, scientific and technological development, job creation, national cultural identity inheritance and promotion, environmental protection, and cooperation among young businessmen.

The Vietnamese youths will also make a tour of several landscapes and historical relics and visit a number of China's cities, including Shanghai and Guangzhou.

Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Qi Jianguo saw off the delegation of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Vietnam at Hanoi railway station.
