Tibet Receives Record Number of Visitors
More than 75,400 visitors, most of which were Chinese, visited
Tibet
during the week-long National Day holiday period, which is an all time high, said Jigme Ki, an official of the regional tourism bureau.
The majority of the visitors came from
Shanghai
, Guangzhou and other coastal areas.
Tourist departments in Tibet arranged over 600 buses for shuttle transport among various scenic spots. Southwest China Airlines increased the number of daily flights to Tibet from three to seven. The local hotel occupancy rate reached over 90 percent during the holiday period.
Jigme believes that the peak period will last until the end of November, one month longer than in previous years.
