A first-rate hydropower station at the Woka River in Shannan Prefecture of the Tibet Autonomous Region has come to completion and the checking for hand-over ceremony was held on Thursday in the region.
Lying in Sangri County of Tibet, the Woka River Hydropower Station has an installed capacity totaling 20,000 kilowatts. With the annual power generating capacity amounting to 120 million kw/h, it is the second large project among the Tibetan 62 projects supported by the state.
The station is mainly used for generating electricity by hydraulic power and for irrigation on a small-scale. The set-up of the station will play a significant role in supporting the Yamdok Tso Power Station and easing the shortage of power-supply in Shannan area, thus promoting the development of industry, agriculture and animal husbandry of the region.
