Chinese Export Commodities Fair Sets Sights High in Guangzhou

The organizers of the 88th Chinese Export Commodities Fair, traditionally the country's largest trade-related event, are expecting to see more foreign chain store representatives at this year's gathering, which is scheduled to open in Guangzhou on Sunday.

"We should use the overseas chain store sales networks to help sell more domestic products abroad and contribute to China's target of reaching a foreign trade volume of more than 400 billion U.S. dollars this year."organizers of the fair were quoted as saying by Friday's Chinadaily.

Organizers have already sent invitations to more than 3,400 foreign chain store companies and 821 overseas chambers of commerce around the world--50 per cent more than last time.

The fair, held twice a year, usually results in trade deals that account for more than 30 percent of the country's total export volume.
