Shanghai Welcomes Multinational Medicine Companies

Multinational medicine companies are encouraged to expand their business in Shanghai, said Jiang Yiren, vice mayor of Shanghai City.

Jiang made the remark while meeting Ralph Stanley-Larson, president of Johnson & Johnson Company on Wednesday.

He welcomed Johnson's plan to establish its headquarters for China in Shanghai, saying that medicine products will have a large market in China in the future.

The company has signed a contract with Chinese Ministry of Public Health recently to invest 50 million yuan (over 6 million US dollars) over the next five years to train medical personnel and improve the management of Chinese hospitals.

Johnson & Johnson is among the world's top 500 enterprises. It has established seven companies and offices in China in the past 20 years with a total investment of 270 million U.S. dollars.
