Qatar Sends Aid to Wounded Palestinians in Egypt

Qatar on Wednesday sent a plane-load of medical supplies and a medical team to Al-Arish, Egypt, to help the Palestinians who were wounded in clashes with the Israeli forces.

The plane is expected to return to Doha, capital of Qatar later in the day with wounded Palestinians for treatment in Qatari hospitals.

About 100 Palestinians have been killed and 2,000 injured in the two-weeks of clashes triggered by hardline Israeli opposition Likud leader Ariel Sharon's provocative visit to a Jerusalem shrine holy to Muslims and Jews on September 28.

Many of the injured Palestinians are receiving treatment in Arab countries.

The flight was scheduled last Sunday, but it was delayed because Israel closed Gaza International Airport due to the violence in the Palestinian territories.
