Shanghai to Develop New Weather Satellites

Shanghai Aerospace Bureau will develop and launch a new generation of sun synchronous track and earth static track weather satellites in the near further, said Li Qing, chief designer of "Fengyun II" Satellite of Shanghai Aerospace Bureau, at the space science popularization public lecture, held in Shanghai on October 9 in celebration of the first "World Space Week". .

Li Qing said that in the coming years, Shanghai Aerospace Bureau will develop and launch a new generation of sun synchronous track weather satellites to survey the environmental parameter of the earth surface and the vertical distribution of the atmospheric temperature and humidity, which is expected to reach advanced international level. Shanghai Aerospace Bureau will also develop and launch a new generation of earth static track weather satellites, which will embrace more probing channels and greater function of vertically surveying the atmosphere.

According to sources, Shanghai Aerospace Bureau will continue to undertake the important task of developing the "Shenzhou" experimental airship.
