Togolese President Hails China-Africa Cooperation Forum

Togolese President Hails China-Africa Cooperation Forum
Togolese President Gnassingbe Eyadema said Tuesday that the on-going "China-Africa Cooperation Forum -- Ministerial Conference Beijing 2000" will contribute to the further promotion of Sino-African cooperation, which conforms to the fundamental interests of both sides.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the forum, which lasts through October 12, the president expressed his firm belief that Sino-African cooperation will be further enhanced in all fields.

By initiating such a forum, Eyadema said, China reaffirmed its commitment to siding with those peace-loving, justice-upholding African countries.

He said African countries take China as one of their closest partners and appreciated the Chinese government's efforts in promoting the cooperation between China and Africa.
