China to Upgrade Textile Industry Through Information TechnologyThe annual revenue of e-business trade of textile products is estimated to amount to 40 billion yuan (US$4.83 billion) by the year 2003, on the condition that an integrated and open information system on textile industry is put into effect within the following 3 years, announced Du Yuzhou, president of State Textile Industry over the weekend.The information system is to be set up through completion of three aspects: the infrastructure to provide punctual and accurate information for textile marketing; assortment, processing and analysis of collected information to provide value-added services; and establishment of consulting systems through professional assistance, Du added. Accordingly, to achieve the trade target, the successful e-business of textile industry must fulfill its three-year plan: the first year is a trial period, aiming to establish e-business model through explorations; the second year will focus on the expansion of e-business; in the third year, the overall service for e-business will be put into full operation and online trading will become the major form in the textile products transactions, Du suggested. The event is to accelerate the development and online trade of China's textile industry, with the view of upgrading the current trade forms with the assistance of the advantages of e-commerce. |
