Six Million Surveyors to Join 5th Census

Six million people, including five million surveyors and one million advisors, will take part in China's fifth national census, due to be conducted from November 1-10, according to an official from the Census Office of the State Council.

These people are government officials, factory workers, villagers and school teachers as well as volunteers from all the 31 provinces, municipalities and ethnic autonomous regions.

Members of the group are required to have adequate educational background and be "ethically sound, trustworthy, hard-working and healthy," according to the official.

A total of 350 million families are expected to be surveyed in the world's most populated nation, the official said.

Advanced technology will be adopted in the census to minimize errors, he noted.
