Air China, Lufthansa Sign Code Sharing Agreement

Air China and Lufthansa German Airlines have signed a code sharing agreement, under which the airlines will be offering flights between Frankfurt and Beijing as well as Frankfurt and Shanghai under shared flight numbers.

The agreement will take effect on October 29, when the airlines will issue their winter schedule.

According to the agreement signed Monday in Beijing, Air China's nine weekly flights will be operating under Lufthansa flight numbers, while Lufthansa's 13 flights will carry Air China codes.

The two airlines also agreed to link their reservation network systems and provide seamless passenger services with through check-in, which mean passengers only need to check-in once at the starting point of their travel, where they will receive boarding passes for all legs of their trip.

Senior officials of both airlines said the agreement is an important step towards strengthening their worldwide partnership strategy.
