Hong Kong's Foreign Currency Reserve Increases

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority announced Monday that the official foreign currency reserve assets of Hong Kong totaled 101.5 billion U.S. dollars at the end of September, 1.1 percent up from one month ago.

Including unsettled forward contracts, the foreign currency reserve assets of Hong Kong at the end of September 2000 stood at 101.7 billion U.S. dollars, 1.6 percent up from one month ago.

Hong Kong is the world's fourth largest holder of foreign currency reserves, after Japan, the Chinese Mainland and Taiwan.
