Xi'an Investment, Trade Fair Closes

The six-day Xi'an Investment and Trade Fair closed today with some 103 contracts signed for the use of 593 million US dollars of overseas investment.

Nearly 1,000 enterprises from 18 countries and regions around the world participated in the fair, said Zhang Fan, vice-mayor of Xi'an.

According to him, 29 of the contracts are signed for high-tech projects, involving 150 million US dollars in contractual overseas investment.

With new investment projects from big-name multinationals, such as ABB from Sweden, 18 of the world's top 500 companies have launched ventures in Xi'an, a city known for its historical associations and cultural heritage.

Domestic enterprises also signed 272 contracts during the fair, involving a total investment of 6.1 billion yuan (about 735 million US dollars), Zhang said.
