The last suspect that is believed to have played a main role in a series murders and listed as a most wanted by the police, was arrested at 11 pm October 7 in Changde in central China's Hunan Province, according to a local police source.

Chen Shiqing, a key member of a gang that have committed a series robberies and murders in central China's Hunan and Hubei Province and west Chongqing municipality, is the last member of the gang to be arrested.

On September 1, the suspects killed several people in an attempted robbery of a bank vehicle. Before this case, they had also committed a string of armed dacoities and killings in other parts of Hunan, Hubei and Chongqing.

The Ministry of Public Security issued an A-Class Wanted Circular for the killers.

According to the local police, at 10 pm last night, Chen came back to Changde to seek refuge at the home of Li Chuangang, husband of his wife's sister. Li and Chen's mother-in-law tried to persuade him to surrender to the police.

Li's neighbors knew about Chen's visit and immediately reported it to the local police, who immediately encircled Li's house. Seeing no way out, Chen finally surrendered.

Chen confessed that he had sought refuge in counties and cities in Hunan, Hubei and Chongqing.
