Palestinians Protest Israeli Atrocities in Gaza Strip

About 1,000 Palestinian demonstrators gathered in front of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) headquarters in Gaza Strip to protest Israeli attacks Sunday afternoon.

The protestors condemned Israel's "barbaric atrocities" in Palestinian territories in the past 10 days, which have claimed about 80 lives, mostly Palestinians, and injured over 2,000 others.

Clashes between angry Palestinian protestors and fully-armed Israeli forces resumed this morning near the Jewish Netzarim settlement in Gaza, in which four Palestinians were injured.

Eyewitnesses said Palestinian police have started dispersing the Palestinians demonstrating before the Israeli outpost at Netzarim juncture.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak announced a 48-hour ultimatum for Palestinian leaders Arafat to put and end to violence by the Palestinian side. The Palestinians rejected the ultimatum as well as Barak's threat of "full force" retaliation.

An Israeli officer claimed that a deal has been reached between the two sides to reduce the level of confrontation and calm the situation in Gaza Strip. There has been no confirmation from the Palestinian side.
