China to Curb Illegal Charges by Rural Schools
The State Development Planning Commission issued a circular recently ordering rural schools to crack down on illegal charges.
It lists 10 major illegal charges, such as excessive payment of tuition and demanding students to buy unnecessary insurance policies.
An official of the commission said that the circular is aimed at reducing the financial load of farmers.
A special inspection will begin on October 10 to stop these illegal activities throughout the country.
The commission is to handle the issue seriously. The media has also been asked to play an active role on the matter.
