Software Industry Grows in Guangzhou

The software industry has grown rapidly over the past few years in Guangzhou, the capital city of south China's Guangdong Province.

Guangzhou now has 500 software companies, doubling the October 1999 figure. Of these, 14 companies report annual revenues of more than 100 million yuan.

Guangzhou has implemented a series of policies designed to create a sound environment for the development of industry, in terms of land use, finance and risk investment.

Local government has also taken measures to attract well-trained people and also to carry out standardized and scientific management for the software companies, sources said.

Guangzhou will pour more investment into the software sector to spur expansion of the high-tech industry, authorities note.
