Guangzhou Attracts Huge Foreign Investment

Guangzhou, the capital city of south China's Guangdong Province, has utilized 22.1 billion US dollars of overseas investment since the reform and opening-up drive started in 1979.

An increasing amount of foreign investment is flowing into the sectors of high-tech and new industries, electronic information, bio-chemicals, new material, basic facilities and real estate, local sources said.

The amount of foreign funds invested by the city's foreign-funded enterprises has accounted for more than half the total contractual foreign investment since last year, the sources said.

Authorities note that the metropolis will become increasingly attractive for overseas investors after China's entry into the World Trade Organization.
