Fifty-five Million Chinese Travel During National Day Holiday

A total of 55 million Chinese people traveled during the seven-day National Day holiday from October 1 to 7, according to latest statistics from the China National Tourism Administration (CNTA).

Tourism earnings were approximately 22 billion yuan (about 2.65 billion U.S. dollars).

The CNTA says that major tourist cities and scenic spots were very orderly during the period. A survey of 21 major cities shows that more than 92 percent of the tourists were satisfied with the service.

"China's holiday tourism is on a healthy and orderly development track," said Sun Gang, deputy director of the CNTA.
