Jiangsu's Foreign Trade Soars

East China's Jiangsu Province imported and exported 28.87 billion US dollars worth of goods in the first eight months of this year, up 53.8 percent on a year-on-year basis.

Exports totaled 16.39 billion US dollars, up 48.7 percent, while imports reached 12.48 billion US dollars, up 61 percent, statistics show.

Local sources said that both processing trade and general trade exports increased sharply during the eight-month period. Foreign-funded enterprises and state-owned companies exported nine billion US dollars and 6.44 billion US dollars of commodities, respectively.

Jiangsu-made goods were mainly exported to Japan, the United States, EU and ASEAN countries and Hong Kong.
