Performance Held to Welcome Back Olympic Team
A special art performance was held Friday to welcome back the triumphant Chinese athletes from the Sydney Olympic Games.
The performance was jointly sponsored by the State General Administration of Sport, the Chinese Olympic Committee and the China Central Television.
China had the most successful Olympics in its history in Sydney, winning 28 gold medals, 16 silver medals and 15 bronze medals, taking the third place at the medal table only behind the United States and Russia.
After the athletes returned, the Chinese government, including top officials, held a series of red-carpet events to express respect to them for their achievements.
