Large Pool of Oil Found in South China Sea

A large pool of oil was found Thursday floating on the South China Sea near the Daya Bay, according to a report from the State Oceanic Bureau.

The report said that the oil pool, located 22 degrees and 14 minutes north latitude, and 114 degrees and 39.5 minutes east longitude, is about three sea miles long, one sea mile wide and is estimated to weigh five to eight tons.

The oil pool is gradually being condensed by the wind and waves and is expected to fade away completely by tomorrow, said the report.

So far, no dead fish have been found and the oil has caused only minor damage to the local environment and fishing industry.
