Amount of Household PCs Increasing in South China's Metropolis

The latest survey in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong province, shows that there are 51.8 computers for every 100 families, up 44 percent on the same period of 1999.

Experts attribute the popularity of household PCs to the increase in income of local residents. Statistics show that the average monthly salary of Guangzhou residents now exceeds 1,000 yuan.

However, according to insiders, software products are in great demand, especially by students.

"We need teaching-assisting software and PC games which can help students improve their intelligence," said a teacher.
