Coastal City Closes Polluting Joint-Venture

Beihai, a coastal city in south China's Guangxi Zhang Autonomous Region, recently closed a pollution-producing joint-venture.

The Beihai Nengli Printing and Dyeing Company emitted excessive exhaust gas and waste water, seriously staining the nearby environment, according to a local official.

Since the company was not able to stop polluting the environment during a requested period, the local government decided to put an end to its operation, said the official.

A famous local tour destination, Beihai has the cleanest atmosphere in China.

In recent years, Beihai has invested more than 400 million yuan in getting rid of the sources of exhaust gas, waste water and noise.
