Dhaka Issues Memorial Stamps on Bangladesh-China Diplomatic RelationshipBangladeshi Ministry of Post and Telecommunications Wednesday issued a set of first-day cover and memorial stamp, marking the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Bangladesh-China diplomatic relations on October 4.
Inaugurating the issuing ceremony of the first-day cover and memorial stamp, Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina highly praised the tremendous achievements made by the two countries in all kinds of fields after 25 years of friendly cooperation.
Recalling the unreserved help provided by the Chinese government for the economic progress of Bangladesh in the past 25 years, Hasina expressed the hope that the existing cooperative relationship between the two countries will be further strengthened.
Stressing the mutual understanding and mutual support of the two countries on international arena, Chinese Ambassador Hu Qianwen highly appreciated the consistent support of the Bangladeshi government to the Chinese government on human rights, Taiwan issue and Tibet issue.
Referring to the economic relations between the two countries, Ambassador Hu said China has provided economic assistance totaling 1.8 billion yuan (217 million U.S. dollars) to Bangladesh till now, and the bilateral trade value amounted to 715 million dollars in 1999.
The economic cooperation between the two countries has "a huge potential and a bright future", he pointed out.
After the speech, the prime minister stamped the cachet and signed her name on the first first-day cover which is marked with "Long Live Bangladesh-China Friendship" in Chinese, Bengali and English characters on a background of Bangladeshi-China Friendship ridges, Bangladesh Martyrs Memorial and the Great Wall of China.
