Guangzhou Airport Sees Passenger Tide on National DayThe Baiyun Airport in Guangzhou, the provincial capital of Guangdong in south China, handled over 430 flights on October 1, as passengers were busy coming in and outside the city to spend the National Day holiday.More than 220 of the flights carried 32,000 passengers to other parts of the country on Monday, the first day of the seven-day holiday, and the figure was almost the same as that on May 1, the first day of the previous seven-day national holiday, said airport authorities. The outgoing flights mainly headed for the destinations of Beijing, Shanghai, Kunming and other major tourist cities in China. The airport authorities have planned to handle more than 2,800 flights during the seven-day holiday, including 1,415 for other parts of the country. In addition to air transportation, Guangzhou's railway department also has seen an increasing number of passengers on Monday. |
