China's Western Regions Hold Trade Fair

An investment and trade fair, jointly sponsored by four western Chinese cities, Xi'an, Chengdu, Lanzhou and Urumqi, opened Tuesday in Xi'an, capital of west China's Shaanxi province.

A total of 226 major investment projects will be available for business talks at the six-day fair, which involve an investment of 20 billion yuan and cover ten industries including machinery, electronics, agriculture, tourism and real estate.

More than 4,000 businessmen from both at home and abroad, as well as foreign diplomatic envoys and representatives of international financial organizations and multinationals, are expected to attend the fair.

An international forum on project management and a symposium on the opportunities and challenges in China's development of its western part and after China's entry into the World Trade Organization will also be held during the fair, according to sponsors.
