Beijing People Celebrate World Animal Day

Over one hundred Beijing animal protectors organized a special activity day Tuesday in Zhongshan Park to welcome World Animal Day on October 4.

Three Beijing families signed documents to adopt cats and dogs during activities.

China began to hold activities to mark World Animal Day in 1997. Beijing volunteers have also established an animal protection charity.

From March to September this year, the charity has saved some one hundred injured animals, including cats, dogs, owls, badgers and other animals. The animals were either sent to official animalshelters or adopted by local households.
