Russian-style Street Appears in NE China Port City

A street over 400 meters long with Russian and European style buildings standing on both sides, was opened to visitors and tourists Sunday, in Dalian of northeast China's Liaoning Province.

To resume its original look 100 years ago, the Dalian city government has decided to rebuild several dozen buildings and other facilities along the street, which is situated at Tuanjie Road, Xigang District.

The first phase of the project includes 20 buildings, 13 of which were reconstructed and seven renovated. The whole project covers 37,000 square meters, at a total cost of 170 million yuan (20.48 million U.S. dollars).

Russian experts participated in the construction of the street, sources with the city government said.

At the same time, a street in the city's Zhongshan District, which features Japanese architectural style and highlights Japanese culture, is near completion. The 500-meter-long street, which covers 11.2 hectares, was designed by Japanese architects.

At present, 29 buildings along the street have been completed.
