More Shanghai Residents Travel Abroad During National Day Holiday

A growing number of Shanghai residents are buying international hard currencies to use when they go abroad during their seven-day national day holiday.

Beginning September 22, over 1,000 foreign exchange transactions have been made each day over the counters of the Bank of China in Shanghai as local people with private visas prepare for trips overseas.

The business volume is three to four times greater than the normal level.

Sources with the bank said most of the holiday travelers are using the Great Wall international credit cards, which can be used in more than 200 countries.
