Memorial Hall of Ancient Chinese Painter OpensA memorial hall for Wu Zhen, a famous Chinese painter in the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), opened recently in his hometown, Jiashan County in east China's Zhejiang Province.Covering an area of 2,950 square meters, the memorial hall cost more than two million yuan (240,000 US dollars) to build. With the black-tile roof and pink walls, it features typical architecture in the regions south of the Yangtze River. The Hall includes one genuine painting and 29 copies of Wu paintings, as well as over 100 paintings and calligraphy by other famous artists. Famous for his versatility on landscape painting, poem and calligraphy, Wu Zhen (1280-1354) is ranked one of the four top painters of the Yuan Dynasty. Other activities to mark the 720 anniversary of Wu's birthday include a symposium of Wu's art and the issuing of ten commemorative stamps and an envelope.
