Yangtze River Three Gorges International Tourism Festival Opens

The Yangtze River Three Gorges International Tourism Festival opened Saturday in Yichang of central China's Hubei Province.
It is estimated that during the festival, which will be held through to October 30, some 1 million domestic and overseas tourists will visit Yichang. The city is also the nearest city to the site of the world's biggest water control project -- the Three Gorges Dam Project at the middle reaches of the Yangtze.
According to local sources, 62 tourism activities, including 12 theme tourism programs such as a grand opening gala, a tour of the Three Gorges, tour of the construction site of the Three Gorges water control project, will be hosted.
During the same period, a number of exhibitions and a month-long film festival will be on show, said the local sources.
