CCB & China Unicom Jointly Open Handset Bank
China Construction Bank (CCB) and China Unicom have jointly opened a handset bank in Beijing. The two sides formally signed a frame agreement on comprehensive business cooperation on September 29.
The business of this handset bank is, based on the technology of short Chinese message, to provide clients with financial service through the handset by making use of modern communication technology, so that handset mobile business is integrated with banking business. The business was first tried out in the Beijing Branch of CCB, opening such businesses as dealing in foreign exchange, securities business, the account transfer, payment and inquiry. The business will be extended to pilot units in Sichuan, Guangdong, Shandong and Hunan provinces in the near future. The handset bank, after being connected to the systems of paging business, counter business and banking cards, will be able to organically integrate various businesses and realize the extension of financial service.
Sources from the trade say that the two cooperative partners in handset banking business, through integrating their respective sales channels, provide cross sales of financial and telecom products, so as to benefit the clients. Through the share of client resources and complementary selling channels, it is possible not only to reduce their respective business costs, but also to expand their respective business areas.
