99 Mayors to Meet for Ancient City Protection

Mayors of 99 Chinese cities will meet next month in Linhai city in east China's Zhejiang Province, to discuss ways of protecting historic towns.

The event, organized by the Ministry of Construction and a national committee for the protection of famous historic and cultural towns, will run from October 27 to 30.

The Zhejiang Provincial Tourism Bureau and Linhai city government will also jointly hold an exhibition of abacuses and an orange fair to coincide with the meeting.

Linhai, known as A Great Wall south of the Yangtze River, has a history of more than 2,000 years and features a number of historic sites.
