Chinese Defence Minister Meets Mongolian Guests

Chinese Defence Minister Chi Haotian met Friday with a delegation of senior soldiers led by Gombusuren, chairman of the Association of Senior Soldiers of the Mongolian Defence Ministry.

Chi, who is also vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission and state councilor, said that many Mongolian soldiers fought together with Chinese armies against the Japanese fascists during the World War II.

They made their contribution to the victory of the war, Chi said.

The Chinese government has always attached importance to developing friendly cooperative relations with Mongolia, Chi noted.

He said that the leaders of the two countries have set the goal of establishing a long-term stable, healthy, mutual, neighborly and friendly cooperative relationship between the two countries.

"We are willing to work with Mongolian friends to bring the friendly relations between the two countries and their armed forces into the new century," he said.

Chi said that he hopes China and Mongolia will always be good neighbors, good friends and good partners.

Gombusuren said that he expects the two sides will further their friendly relations and the contacts between the senior soldiers of the two countries.
