Israelis, Palestinians End Talks With U.S. Mediators

Israeli and Palestinian negotiators Thursday wrapped up three days of talks with U.S. mediators near Washington, the U.S. State Department said.

Without providing details, State Department spokesman Philip Reeker told reporters that the Israelis and Palestinians also had direct talks apart from separate consultations with U.S. mediators led by special envoy Dennis Ross.

Reeker said that the U.S. side did not offer any compromise proposal during the deliberations which began Tuesday.

"We haven't made any decision with respect to bridging proposals," he said.

The delegations, led by Israeli Acting Foreign Minister Shlomo Ben-Ami and Palestinian chief negotiator Saeb Erekat, arrived in Washington Tuesday to seek breakthroughs for the peace process under U.S. mediation.
