Two U.N. Africa Envoys' Mandates to Be Extended

Two envoys of U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan dealing with African affairs will have their mandates extended through the end of 2001, according to an exchange of letters released here Thursday.

In his letters to the Security council, Annan informed it of his intention to extend the appointments of his special advisor for Eritrea and Ethiopia Mohamed Sahnoun and of his special representative for the Great Lakes region Berhanu Dinka.

Council president Moctar Ouane of Mali said that council members took note of Annan's intentions.
