Annette Lu's New Separatist Remarks Slammed

Xinhua, China's official news agency, published a signed article Thursday, denouncing the new separatist remarks made by Annette Lu of Taiwan in her first overseas visit after taking office.

Lu has reiterated her old remarks such as "Taiwan's status is yet to be set" and "The cross-straits relations are remote relatives and close neighbors," in an article. She has never given up her dream of "Taiwan's admission into the United Nations," the article says.

Lu's ugly performances show that her nature as a "Taiwan independence" element will never change, the article points out, urging people not to relax their vigilance against her ambition to split the motherland.

The article reiterates that Taiwan has been an inalienable part of China and China's sovereignty over Taiwan has been recognized worldwide, it says.

Taiwan's attempts to join the United Nations have been defeated over and over again, the article says, noting that big powers like the United States, Britain and Russia are all openly supporting the One-China Principle and opposing Taiwan's position to join the United Nations.

Without recognizing herself as Chinese, Lu has lost the qualification to talk about national feelings, the article stresses. It urges people to be vigilant against the Taiwan authorities, as Lu has been so daring to openly advocate "Taiwan independence" in the international arena.
