Chinese Divers Again Dominate Diving Contest

Chinese divers again dominated the Olympic diving pool, edging closer to winning their fifth gold medal after Hu Jia and Tian Liang finished one-two in the men's 10m platform semifinals.

Hu Jia, who replaced injured teammate Huang Qiang, scored the highest score of 206.61 points in the semifinals.

Tian Liang, a second-time Olympian, finished second in the semi with 201.45 points from four dives.

Dmitry Saoutine of Russia, who took part in all the four men's events, finished third at 190.92 points.

The scores of semifinals will count in the final.

Saoutine, the gold medalist of men's platform at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, has yet to win an individual gold at the Sydney Games. He claimed the men's synchronized platform gold but was beaten twice in the individual springboard and synchronized springboard events.
