Photo Exhibition Features China's Polar Expeditions

A photo exhibition featuring China's 16 expeditions to the South Pole and first exploration to the North Pole will be held in Beijing during the National Day holidays.

The photo exhibition, sponsored by the State Oceanic Administration, will be staged at the China Art Gallery, October 3-8.

Since 1984, more than 2,500 scientists and researchers from 436 Chinese research institutes and universities have participated in 16 expeditions to Antarctica and the first Arctic exploration last year.

Through the expeditions, Chinese scientists have gained first-hand data, samples and information to aid polar research.
