Book Series Published to Popularize Laws

The first ten books of law popularization series, prefaced by Li Peng, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), debuted on book stands Fiday.

The series was written and compiled by the experts invited by the NPC Standing Committee, China's top legislature,

According to He Chunlin, chief editor of the series and also general secretary of the NPC Standing Committee, the series are China's first large-scale law-popularization series that use accurate and concise language, adopt a question-and-answer style and feature humorous cartoons.

At Thursday's forum on publication of the series, Jiang Chunyun, vice-chairman of NPC Standing Committee, said that it is imperative to make law popularization a fundamental work as well as making it accessible to the general public.

The series totals 50 books and publication of the series will be completed in 2003.
