China Wins Women's Synchronized 10m Platform Diving Title
Li and Sang, the 2000 World Cup champions of the event, repeated their feat by totaling 345.12 points from 5 dives. They led from the first dive with an inward/forward dive which gave them 55.80 points. They quickly pulled away with their second and third dives, enlarging their lead to more than 20 points. They had an excellent dive in their fourth attempt, a back 2 and a half somersaults and 1/2 twists, collecting 81.00 points, the highest mark in the whole competition.
This was the second diving gold for China, following Xiong Ni's gold in men's 3m springbard on Monday. The duo's success also pushed China's gold tally at the Games to 23, seven more than in Atlanta, four years ago. Australia's Loudy Tourky took the bronze. | ||
