The final was not as close as expected as the Chinese duo led from the very beginning of the contest.

They established a lead of 5.40 points after the first two dives. They soon pulled away to lead by 31.65 points with two dives of 79.98 and 86.70 points.

The Russian pair failed to perform to their level and made a mistake in their third dive, garnering only 69.75 points. They were also outpointed in the last dive, collecting 85.14 points to their Chinese opponents' 89.10.

It was second consecutive defeat for Dmitri Saoutine. The Russian was beaten in the men's individual 3m springboard on Tuesday.
