Senior CPC Official Meets South African Guests
Jia Qinglin, member of the Political Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) Central Committee, met Wednesday with Trevor Fowler, member of the executive council of the department of development planning and local government of Gauteng Province of South Africa.
Jia, also secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPC expressed welcome to Fowler and his party, who are here to attend the Sixth Major Cities' Summit Beijing 2000.
He said that as Beijing and many cities of South Africa are in the process of modernization, they have broad prospect for cooperation in urban construction, economy and trade.
Fowler said that the cities of South Africa would like to learn Beijing's experience in resolving the housing problem of residents.
